Murderer of Baggies legend's 'sister-in-law' to 'die in prison' says judge

A JOURNALIST writing a book about West Bromwich Albion legend Laurie Cunningham has led to three life sentences for the killer of a mum and two of her children 30 years on.

Norma Richards – the girlfriend of the player’s brother, Keith – was murdered with daughters Samantha, aged nine, and Syretta, aged seven, in July 1982.

Nobody was charged over their deaths until last year when writer Peter Law was researching a book about Baggies winger Cunningham and enquired about their deaths.

A cold case review was launched and the resulting police enquiry found a DNA match between Tony Dyce and evidence found on the body of Miss Richards.

Dyce, aged 54, from London, was found guilty at the Old Bailey of murdering the three at their home in north-east London.

Miss Richards was found naked, having been raped and stabbed five times while Keith was with his brother in Spain, where Laurie was playing for Real Madrid after leaving the Hawthorns. Laurie Cunningham died aged 33 in a car crash in Spain in 1989.
