Birmingham Cathedral goes from iPod to iGod
Dec 23 2010 By Jonathan Gilbert

CHURCH-GOERS with hectic schedules have been given the opportunity to keep in touch with God while on the move – through their iPhone.
Birmingham Cathedral has embraced the ever-evolving world of technology with its own app and hopes to reach a worldwide audience.
The app is free to download and features a calendar of Cathedral services and events.
But users who can’t make it in person do not need to worry. They can get access to podcasts of sermons and choral music across the globe.
It is the first time a Cathedral in Britain has launched a free app and the Dean, the Very Revd Catherine Ogle, is hoping it will reach people around the world.
She said: “We’re hoping to go global with this app. It would be brilliant to connect with people in other countries.
“The idea only came to us around a month ago, so it’s all happened very quickly.”
She added: “We are set in the heart of a modern city and it’s great to be able to use modern communications to relate with people both in Birmingham and beyond.
