Badge of Honour for Royal Centre for Defence Medicine

The new Queen Elizabeth Hospital, in Edgbaston.

A BIRMINGHAM medical centre treating wounded soldiers is the latest recipient of the Mail’s Badge of Honour award.

The Royal Centre for Defence Medicine will receive the award next Wednesday.

The unit, which recently moved from Selly Oak Hospital to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, was nominated by Birmingham City Council member Coun Dierdre Alden.

Coun Alden (Con, Edgbaston) said: “These days, soldiers are surviving with injuries which in the past would surely have killed them.

“The fact they do is in no small part due to the care and dedication they receive from the staff at the unit, as well as the military medical personnel on the front line. This facility is located in my ward but is recognised across the country for its excellent work.”
