IT’S a red letter day for Birmingham’s ‘Calendar Girls’ after they topped their target of raising £10,000 for breast cancer victims.
The 22 women, who all suffered with the disease and met through Breast Friends group at Sutton Coldfield’s Good Hope Hospital, bared all for the Think Pink calendar.
And their daring pictures paid off as they have now brought in £10,000 for the support group to help future sufferers.
A portion will also go towards the Cancer Support Centre in the town.
Mum-of-four Angela Rabone, aged 53 and from Sutton Coldfield, said: “Everyone is so relieved.
“It was extremely hard work.
“It’s amazing how many people showed their generosity and the launch with Kay Alexander at Aston Wood Golf Club got us off to a flying start.”
Angela, a teacher at Blackwood Primary School in Streetly, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006.
Her sister, Barbara Madden, a receptionist at Boldmere’s Trylogy Hair, was also hit with the disease a year later.
