A MAN in his 50s died following an incident at a Midland pub.

The man was found hurt after an alleged assault at the Red Lion pub in Alvechurch, Worcestershire, at 10.40pm on Saturday.

Police and paramedics were called and the man was taken to the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch, where he died.

The man has not yet been named and a post-mortem examination was due to take place yesterday.

West Mercia Police arrested a man and a woman, both in their 20s, in connection with the death. The man was being questioned of suspicion of murder and the woman on suspecion of assisting an offender.

The Red Lion, in Red Lion Street, is the town’s best-known pub and one of the oldest buildings in the town, dating back to the 1700s.
