TWO men have been arrested after a 20-year-old man was stabbed in the chest in Erdington High Street.

Officers found the victim with stab wounds at around 11.30pm on Saturday night, near to the Acorns Public House.

Most of Erdington High Street remained sealed off for most of yesterday as officers scoured the area for clues.

Shops remained closed between Six Ways Island and York Road, near to St Barnabas Church and Coton Road was also sealed off to traffic.

Specialist search officers spent the morning working with council contractors who helped removed drain covers, searched building roof tops with ladders and checked alleyways for evidence.

A 58-year-old grandmother, who did not want to be named, said she had heard nothing about the incident until she had tried to go shopping.

She added: “I wanted to get up to the 99p store, but they are not letting anyone through.

“There are lots of police cars and lots of activity, but all they told me was that there was a stabbing.

“It’s terrible to think that this happens just down the road from where you live.
