MIDLAND football star Lee Hughes has revealed he spoke to the daughter of the man he killed in a drunken road crash to ask for her forgiveness.
The former West Bromwich Albion striker was jailed in 2004 after fleeing the scene of a high-speed car smash which killed father-of-four Douglas Graham in Meriden in November 2003.
The 34-year-old striker was released from Featherstone Prison in Wolverhampton in 2007 and now plays for League One outfit Notts County.

“I still think about it all the time,” Hughes said of the car smash which has defined his career. It’s hard.”
The Graham family took Douglas’ death even harder, and his devoted wife Maureen died 13 months later of what her family described as a “broken heart”.
Hughes said he met Sharon Montgomery, Mr Graham’s daughter, to try to confront his responsibilities.
