THE Mailbox in Birmingham received a royal delivery when the Duchess of Cornwall visited to meet members of The Archers cast.
Wearing an ‘I love The Archers’ badge proudly on her left lapel, she told cast members: “I’m very proud to wear it – I’ve been a listener for many years.”
The excited Royal was taken on a tour of the recording studio for the 60-year-old soap – and the world’s longest running – in which she made a cameo appearance last night.
Actor Charles Collingwood, who plays Brian Aldridge, comforted Camilla as she admitted stage fright over the recording she made in Clarence House.
Charles, who said he was “the JR of Ambridge”, said: “She said she wouldn’t listen to her scene as it was broadcast because she thought she was going to be awful.”
Camilla’s eyes lit up as she came face-to-face with cast members whose lives are followed by listeners in almost five million homes.

Camilla told Kim Durham, who plays villain Matt Crawford: “It’s riveting – when we go on our tours abroad I have a friend who texts me.
