Former MG Rover workers left “angry and bitterly disappointed” at trust fund blow

MG Rover workers leave Longbridge after a meeting to decide the future of the plant in April 2005.

MORE than 6,500 ex-MG Rover workers have been left “angry and bitterly disappointed” after the Phoenix Four ruled out £1 million donations to their former employees from their own pockets.

Members of the Justice for Rover Workers Group hit out angrily after a meeting with Phoenix Venture Holdings non-executive director Nigel Petrie ended in frustration.

Campaigners fighting for nearly six years for Trust Fund payouts pledged by the Phoenix Four in April 2005 say they face “bleak” prospects of compensation after banking giant HBOS swallowed up all Phoenix Venture Holdings assets with a £23 million claim on Longbridge funds.
