A BIRMINGHAM headteacher told of his devastation after an 11-year-old pupil was knocked down by a bus on her way to lessons.
“Model” schoolgirl Aleena Biju was fatally injured by a National Express No.29 service near her Weoley Castle home just after 7.30am yesterday.
She was a pupil at St Thomas Aquinas School in Kings Norton.
Headteacher Jim Foley said the tragedy happened as Aleena, believed to have been the oldest of three children, ran for a bus to take her to school.
“All of Aleena’s teachers described her as an angel and a model pupil,” he said.
“She will be deeply missed by the whole school community. May she rest in peace.”

In a letter sent to parents yesterday, Mr Foley said: “It began as a normal school day and Aleena left home, along with hundreds of others, to come to St Thomas Aquinas. Tragically, she did not complete her journey.
“We were alerted to the accident by police and a couple of hours later were informed by the hospital that Aleena had died.
“There are no words at a time like this to comfort her parents and family. All we can do is offer our prayers and deepest sympathy.”
