A TEACHER who downloaded images of child pornography has avoided a jail sentence.
Timothy Davis, who was a teacher at Monkspath Junior and Infant School in Shirley, had pleaded guilty at Warwick Crown Court to four charges of making indecent images.
Judge Christopher Metcalf told him he had an “indecent” interest in young children.
He handed down a community sentence with three years’ supervision.
The judge told Davis: “There has been no question of any of your students being involved in the images.
“There has been no question of sharing the images and no question of distribution.”
The judge went on: “You have had a substantial punishment by these offences coming to light but that is often what happens in cases of this nature.”
Davis, aged 38, of Whitford Drive, Solihull, was also ordered to take part in a sex offender treatment programme, to register as a sex offender and was made the subject of a sexual offences prevention order.
Police raided his home on August 25 last year.
On computer equipment, they found 134 child porn images of the least serious level, one at level two, four at level three – and four at level four, the second most serious category.
Michael Duck, defending, said: “The conviction has destroyed him. He is a broken man. He has been receiving help from his GP.”
