SHAMED former BBC newsreader Ashley Blake has spoken of his remorse after being banned from the roads for drink-driving.
Blake accepted he should have “given more thought” to his fitness to drive after failing a breath test as he rode his BMW motorbike.
The 41-year-old was banned for a year after admitting driving while over the limit.
He told the Mail he failed the test the morning after a night out and hoped his case would serve as a warning to others.
“I accept I should have given more thought to my own fitness to drive the following day,” he said.
“I would like my experience to be a reminder to other road users that alcohol could still be in your system even after you’ve had a full night’s sleep and may feel fine to drive.”
In September 2009, Blake was jailed for two years for wounding 17-year-old Greg Jones with a wooden pole and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
The teenager, from Streetly, Sutton Coldfield, needed ten stitches after the attack, which happened in January 2009 at a bar in nearby Chester Road, Sutton, that Blake used to co-own.
