Man accused of stabbing Stourbridge girl misses court for hospital surgery

An 18-year-old Black Country man charged with stabbing a teenage girl near the gates of her school failed to appear in court today after being admitted to hospital.

Samuel Tomlinson, from Sedgley, had been due to appear before magistrates in Dudley charged with attempting to murder Chloe West.

Tomlinson is also charged with wounding one of the 14-year-old schoolgirl's fellow pupils, possession of an offensive weapon and two motoring offences.

Chloe, who suffered wounds to her upper body and face outside Ridgewood High School in Stourbridge on Friday, was discharged from Birmingham Children's Hospital on Saturday after undergoing surgery.

Tomlinson, of Turls Hill Road, Sedgley, was charged on Saturday and is understood to have undergone minor surgery today. He will now appear before magistrates on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, messages of support flooded in for Chloe as she revealed how she was feeling after leaving hospital.

She was discharged from Birmingham Children's Hospital on Saturday after undergoing surgery.

In a post left on social networking website Facebook, Chloe said: "I'm out now. Feel like I've been head-banging for ages but I'm good. Thanks for everyone who has been by me. I love you all. xxx."

In a separate Facebook page called Chloe West - Get Well Soon which has nearly 4,000 followers, hundreds of well-wishers left messages for the schoolgirl.

Eddie Scott posted: "Glad to hear that you are back home with your family. With their help and your determination in time this will hopefully be a distant memory."

Jim Patterson added: "Thank God, Chloe, your life has been spared, and with the love and support of all your family and friends, time will bring healing and you will make a complete recovery."
