BLUE Peter gardener Chris Collins has been helping Midland children get their hands muddy in school grounds.

St Paul’s Church of England School, in Tipton, won a national competition which challenged children aged seven to 11 to design their own sensory garden.

As their prize, Blue Peter’s Chris, a sensory challenge judge, come out to help them bring their ideas to life.

“The entry from St Paul’s really stood out as a winner because it was so eye-catching, full of colour and really imaginative,” he said.

“The design contains a pathway which will take the children through the garden and guarantee all senses are satisfied.”

School head Anna McGuire said: “The children worked really hard on their designs.

“This is something both fun and educational the whole school will enjoy.

“It’s something we’ll treasure for years to come.”
