A TEENAGE girl suffered a 12-hour ordeal after she was kidnapped on a busy Birmingham street and assaulted by a sex beast.

The 17-year-old was trapped overnight inside the empty two-storey office block where her attack took place.

She was only rescued when nearby residents heard her screams for help the following morning.

Her ordeal began at 5.15pm last Friday when her attacker pounced as she walked in New Coventry Road, Sheldon.

He forced the terrified teen into the building, tucked away on the tree-lined area where the Coventry Road splits in two, and subjected her to what police described as a “serious sexual assault”.

She was finally rescued at 6am on Saturday when police called to the scene found her.

Detectives specialising in sex crimes have spent the past four days carefully interviewing the teen to prise out details of her ordeal and clues to the identity of her mystery attacker.

It was thought he may have been seen at the nearby Whirlpool BP petrol station about an hour after the attack.

Det Insp Heather McCamley, from the Public Protection Unit at Stechford police station, said: “The offender would have stood out as most people were wearing summer clothes due to the nice weather and he was wearing a black tracksuit.

“I would ask anybody who saw the man around this location to get in touch with us.”

The building remained cordoned off throughout the weekend as forensic experts scoured the scene for clues.

Police were still at the scene on Monday.

Det Insp McCamley said a passing motorist in a white van may have seen the woman with her attacker shortly before the attack and appealed for him to come forward.

“This man is not a suspect, but I would appeal for that man to get in touch with us to tell us what he saw,” she added.

“This was a very nasty attack and we are keen to find the offender as quickly as possible to ensure that he does not commit any further att-acks.

“Officers are working with the victim and her family to support her during this traumatic time.”

The suspect was described as white, aged 23 to 25, about 5ft 6in tall and slim, with ginger hair, blue eyes, freckles and possibly a short moustache.

He spoke with a Birmingham accent, wore a black tracksuit and black trainers and possibly a red T-shirt.
