POLICE have launched an appeal after a teenager was assaulted by a large group of males while walking in Redditch.
The 17-year-old was set upon as he walked with his girlfriend between two underpasses off Greenlands Drive, Redditch, at around 9pm on April 11.
He was kicked from behind and then punched to head by one of 15 men who then ran off.
Minutes later, a man aged around 18 or 19, rode up to the victim and apologised for the attack.
He said it was a case of mistaken identity and warned the victim that he was not to speak of the incident.
The man was described as white, around 6ft tall with dark, spiky untidy hair. He wore a grey leather motorcycle jacket and black trousers.
The victim was treated in hospital for injuries to his nose, jaw and mouth.
