A GROUP of bikers showed their softer side when they thundered in to deliver Easter treats at a Birmingham children’s hospice.
Almost 60 bikers put a smile on the faces of life-limited children when they handed out Easter at Acorns Children’s Hospices in Selly Oak and Worcester.
The event was organised by members of the Gloucester-based Severn Advanced Motorcyclists, who have been delivering Easter eggs to Acorns for the past seven years.
The Bikers’ vice chairman, Budge Burridge, whose son Robert was cared for at Acorns in Birmingham, said: “It’s a great event, everyone loves doing it, the children get so excited to see all the bikes thundering in.”
It costs £7,500 per day to run each of Acorns’ three children’s hospices in Selly Oak, Worcester and Walsall, and the hospice trust currently cares for nearly 600 children with life-limitingconditions.
Birmingham head of care Chris Reed said: “It’s become part of the calendar to welcome the bikers at Easter.”
