Boy of 16 arrested as gun found in search of Quinton house

A BOY aged just 16 was one of two people arrested when police found a pistol during drug swoops on houses in Birmingham.

Officers arrested the teenager alongside a man, aged 21, on suspicion of possession of a firearm when the weapon was recovered in the raid on a house in Overdale Road, Quinton, yesterday morning.

Police officers mounted simultaneous raids on the property and two others in Simmons Drive and West Boulevard as part of a crackdown on drugs.

A 17-year-old was arrested from the Simmons Drive address on suspicion of the cultivation of cannabis.

And an 18-year-old man was cautioned for possessing cannabis following the swoop in West Boulevard.

Sgt Donna Horner said: “We’re determined to crack down on individuals involved in drugs or drug dealing, and it’s thanks to information from the community that we targeted these addresses.”
