THE music of the world came to Birmingham – and festival fans only had to travel as far as Moseley to find it.

The three-day Mostly Jazz festival was hailed a huge success by organisers, with around 4,000 fans of jazz, soul, funk and world music enjoying the eclectic range of sounds.

Soul legend Booker T was due to wrap proceedings up in Moseley Park last night, after 93-year-old Brum jazz hero Andy Hamilton kicked off Saturday’s programme, following on from a popular Friday headline performance by the Cinematic Orchestra.

Organiser John Fell said: “It was been an amazing festival. The weather held up for us and everybody was out in the sun, drinking and enjoying the music.

“To have people like Booker T, a Grammy Award winner, here in Birmingham, let alone little Moseley Park, is a bit of an honour, really.

“It’s something we never thought would have happened. The performances were just fantastic.”
