Wolves: Steve Bull smashes charity target

MIDLAND football legend Steve Bull has achieved another goal, raising £130,000 for charities across the West Midlands.

It easily surpassed the £100,000 target figure set for the first year by the Steve Bull Foundation.

To celebrate, and raise further cash, Bully hosted a first birthday party for almost 400 people at the Birmingham ICC, with X Factor star Alexandra Burke.

Alexandra, who won the show in 2008, defied a mystery mouth injury to perform songs from her album Overcome.

Steve confided that Alexandra’s injury scare earlier in the day had left him sweating, adding: “I was wondering whether I would have to get up on stage myself.

“But she was great, it was been a night to remember.”

The Wolves goal-scorer and former England striker said one of the highlights of the year for him had been presenting £6,000 to Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

Other organisations helped by the Foundation include Promise Dreams, St Basils, Midlands Air Ambulance and New Cross Hospital.
