A 26-YEAR-old “out of control” Midland man had to be shot with a Taser gun when he armed himself with a knife and hurled missiles at police after being told by his mother to turn down the volume of music he was playing in his bedroom.
Judge Amjad Nawaz told Rajeer Kumar it was clear he over-reacted and became violent, before starting to smash property in his room and it was his mother who called police.
The officers arrived and they were “doing nothing more than carrying out their public duty”, said the judge, when the situation became more serious.
He said Kumar armed himself with the knife and, while there was no suggestion he was close enough to the officers to cause harm, there was an element of danger.
“You became unnerved and you were clearly out of control,” the judge told Kumar at Wolverhampton Crown Court who, he added, then began throwing missiles at police from his bedroom window. This was all committed against a background of his drug abuse, the judge went on.
Kumar, of Enfield Road, Rowley Regis, admitted affray and was given a ten-month jail term suspended for two years.
