Man dies after collision with car in Sheldon

A pedestrian died in a road traffic collision in Birmingham in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The incident happened at Sheaf Lane in Sheldon shortly before 1.15am.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the man suffered multiple traumatic injuries and was in cardiac arrest after being in collision with a car.

A spokesmean for the ambulance service said: “Crews took over resuscitation efforts from members of the public and quickly transferred him to Heartlands Hospital by ambulance. Advanced life support continued on route to hospital and medics were pre alerted to the arrival of the man who was in a critical condition.

“Unfortunately despite the best efforts of people on scene, crews and hospital medics nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead shortly after arrival at hospital.”
