IT is the smallest loo in Birmingham.
At just a few inches high, the Thomas Crapper & Company toilet, pictured, is going on show at the giant NEC’s Miniatura show which starts this Saturday.
Every detail has been accurately downsized from the pedestal wash-down closet – from high level cistern, throne seat, flush pipe, pull and chain.
And the luxury lavatory also features tiny brass brackets, each showing the Crapper logo.
And there’s BIG money in this small world.
The miniature loo will set you back £145.
And a one-twelfth scale marquetry wardrobe, by model-maker Chris Malcolmson, also on show at Miniatura, recently sold for a staggering £4,000.
The show runs on September 24 and 25, and is the UK’s largest miniatures and dolls house event. For details call 0121 767 4100 or visit www.miniatura.co.uk.
n The Ikon Gallery in Birmingham has been blasted for wasting taxpayer cash after signing up an artist to graffiti on its toilet walls.
Bulgarian Nedko Solakev is to daub the Brindleyplace venue’s lavatories as part of a show to be unveiled on Wednesday.
It receives cash from the Arts Council and city council every year. Robert Oxley from the Taxpayers’ Alliance said: “There will be a lot of people questioning whether this is even art in the first place.”
