A GROUP of former servicemen are appealing to someone to become their standard bearer.

The Birmingham branch of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, a corps of the British Army, would also like new members to help them carry out their duties.

John Buckland said the person could be a former serviceman or someone with an alternate military allegiance.

Mr Buckland said: “Our branch desperately requires a standard bearer or some one with the time and energy to learn, to assist us.

“Training would be given. We would desperately like some new members.”

“If you are interested or could be interested in helping us, we would love to hear from you.”

Meetings are held on the third Thursday of the month at 8pm at the RBL Club, Quarry Lane, Longbridge.
