Hall Green and Harborne teens perform with Jessie J at the O2 Academy

Jessie J visits Birmingham Fame Academy. With students Matt Sheehan, Bambi Bains and Shana Carey.

TWO teens had a taste of stardom when they stared a stage with chart-topping singer Jessie J.

Shana Carey, from Harborne, and Matthew Sheehan, from Hall Green, shone in the spotlight when they performed alongside the star at the O2 Academy.

The pair, who are both 16, sang for Jessie when she made a surprise visit to their school, the new £25 million Birmingham Ormiston Academy (BOA).

Modelled on the famous BRIT School in London, which helped launch the careers of Jessie and former classmates Leona Lewis and Adele, the school specialises in the digital media and the creative and performing arts.

Four times MOBO Award-winner Jessie was so impressed with the pupils’ performances that she asked the pair to join her at the second of her two sell-out gigs at the Academy.

Shana and Matthew, who are studying music at the academy, swallowed their nerves to perform their own songs in front of thousands of screaming fans.

Shana said: “The atmosphere was absolutely amazing, like nothing I’ve ever known.
