New moves to stop travellers using Quinton park

NEW security measures are being installed at a popular Birmingham park to prevent travellers illegally setting up camp at the site.

Guard rails will be erected to protect Highfield Farm recreation ground in Quinton from vehicles driving on to the park.

Birmingham city councillor Peter Smallbone (Con, Quinton) said neighbours were intimidated when travellers set up camp recently.

He said: “Although we made sure the travellers left in two days I want to make sure a similar camp cannot be set up in the future.

“The new rails will go a long way to securing the park for everyone to enjoy.”
