Birmingham Dogs Home at 'breaking point'

Alayna Warner

BIRMINGHAM Dogs’ Home is at “breaking point”, claim staff after a large number of strays were abandoned over the Christmas period.

Alayna Warner, fund-raising manager, said they are looking after 109 dogs, instead of the usual 80 to 90, at the New Bartholomew Street Centre, Digbeth.

The number of people coming forward to re-home the dogs had also trailed off.

The home has issued an urgent appeal to anyone who can help to contact them before they reach the maximum capacity of 120.
