The bodies of the parents of a West Midlands Police officer remained in their Birmingham home on Wednesday night as forensic experts hunted for vital clues.
62-year-old Avtar Singh Kolar and 58-year-old Carole Kolar were found dead in their Handsworth Wood home by their police officer son at 8am on Wednesday.
The couple had two sons and two daughters as well as eight grandchildren. They had been married for 40 years.
West Midlands Police have launched a murder inquiry under the name "Operation Tiler".
Tonight forensic experts were believed to be working from the outside of the house inwards in a bid to pick up vital evidence without contaminating the crime scene.
Nearby drains were dredged and low roof tops were searched as officers hunted for the murder weapon.
Anyone with information should call Force CID in Birmingham by calling the new non-emergency telephone number on 101 and asking for officers working on Operation Tiler. Alternatively call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
