THIS was the charred wreck of a van that thieves left behind for Solihull residents.

It was ditched in Hampton in Arden and set alight at around 11pm last Saturday and two men were seen running from the scene.

Police think the white Volkswagen, left at the junction of Fentham Road and Meadow Drive, had been involved in a recent robbery in Wythall.

A West Midlands Police spokesman confirmed the fire was being treated as arson. She added that West Mercia Police were investigating the alleged robbery.
