1. Prince William can only laugh when asked about Alex McLeish's appointment Aston Villa manager

Football's a funny old game, as Prince William proved after last summer's shock announcement that Aston Villa's new boss was to be the former Birmingham City manager Alex McLeish.

A YouTube clip has emerged of the Duke of Cambridge, who is a Villa fan, on a visit to the city.At one point a cheeky member of the public called out for his opinion of McLeish's appointment.

His reaction was to throw his head back and roar with laughter.

2. Birmingham City's Nathan Redmond pays tribute to Warwickshire car crash victims Mikey Abdou and Mike Dugmore

Birmingham City star Nathan Redmond has joined hundreds of others to pay tribute to two young men who died in a horror smash between their car and an open top bus near Stratford.

The victims have been named locally as 19-year-old Mikey Abdou from Hockley Heath, near Solihull and 21-year-old Mike Dugmore from Wilmcote, near Stratford.

Hundreds of friends and family members drove to the scene of the crash site on Sunday night to hold a candle-lit vigil and more than 1,700 people have joined a  Facebook page in their names.

3. Meriden sisters bid for Miss Birmingham beauty title

STUNNING siblings Marissa and Summer Bradnick are taking their sisterly rivalry to the catwalk as they both attempt to win a prestigious beauty title.

The sister act will line up in the finals of the Miss Birmingham competition to be staged in March after winning through from the preliminary heats in which scores of stunners auditioned for places in the showpiece pageant.

But Marissa, 19, of Meriden, claimed they had not yet considered resorting to a catwalk catfight in a bid to do well in the beauty contest.

4. Birmingham Steelhouse Lane Police Station could close as force cuts costs

A LANDMARK Birmingham police station that has been in operation for 120 years could be ditched under a £126 million cost-cutting drive.

Cash-strapped police chiefs are investigating the possibility of closing the doors on the historic Steelhouse Lane base, in the city centre, and replacing it with something smaller.

The station is one of three that could go under a review of police buildings conducted by West Midlands Police, as it faces massive Government budget cuts.

5. Birmingham double murder: Third man still in custody after being arrested in connection with deaths of Avtar and Carole Kolar

A THIRD man arrested in connection with the murders of Handsworth Wood couple Carole and Avtar Kolar remains in police custody this morning (Tuesday).

The 37-year-old man was arrested yesterday (Monday) afternoon in connection with the deaths of the couple who were found by their police officer son at their Friary Road home last Wednesday.

Two other men arrested have been released, a 24-year-old on police bail and a 41-year-old without charge, by detectives leading the enquiry.
