Tango'd twice by quintet

THEATRE'S sexiest dance hits the stage in Worcestershire this month as a London-based musical quintet comes to the Midlands.

Performed by two ballet dancers who accompany the group, Tango! Tango! tells the story of the first great genius of dance, Astor Piazzolla.

The impassioned composer and outsider, played by Patrick Lannigan, fights against the establishment to bring his new blend of dance to the stages worldwide.

And after an epic battle he finally succeeds to bring us the popular moves that are now known and loved across the country.

South American reed instrument, the bandoneon, provides the background beat of the dance that was first known in the underworld of secret nightclubs and salons in Argentina.

Tango! Tango! was written by award winning musician and author, Justin Pearson, whose play about the life of Beethoven won him the Craher Drama Prize in 2001.

His other plays include The Angel Of Rome, Thrilling The Angels and Stirring The Spirit.

Tickets for the show at the Palace Theatre, Redditch, at 7.30pm on February 29, cost £14 and are available on 01527 65203.
