Meeting of the mummies at museum

MOTHERS will come face to face with mummies at Worcestershire's county museum next month.

As part of Mother's Day celebrations, the Hartlebury-based museum is putting on an Egyptian trail where families can learn hieroglyphics and have a go at wrapping a mummy.

Card making sessions will also be put on as part of the craft workshops.

And as a special treat, museum volunteer Cedric Lewis has carved a wooden mummy case, which children will be able to decorate on the day.

Storyteller Julie Cooper will also be spinning a few tales about mothers through the ages, from Egyptian goddesses to Victorian mothers.

Worcestershire County Council's visitor services officer, Rachel Robinson, said: "This is a new take on the traditional Mother's Day, but one we are sure will be fun."

More information is available from Rachel on 01299 250416 or at www.worcestershire. gov.uk/museums.
