Police plea over Kidderminster death crash

POLICE today appealed for witnesses to a crash in Kidderminster which killed one man and left two others fighting for life.

The victims were among a total of six people who were hurt in the accident.

Police have questioned two men who were arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The accident involved a Ford Transit and a Rover 216 which crashed at the Oldington Lane junction with Minster Road and Stourport Road shortly after 12.15am yesterday.

The front seat passenger in the Rover died. He has not been named but was aged 23, and from Cookley, near Kidderminster.

Two 17-year-old rear seat passengers remain in a critical condition at the Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

The van driver was treated for a minor head injury and his two passengers were taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital for observation and specialist treatment.

Pc Andy Saunders, of the North Worcestershire Road Policing Unit, said: "This was a terrible tragedy which has left one young man dead and two other young people with life-threatening injuries, and our thoughts are with all of the victims and their families.

"As with all fatal and life-threatening collisions, there will be a thorough investigation, and we need to speak to any witnesses."
