Man arrested after body found in recycling waste

A MAN has been arrested after the body of a murdered man was found hidden inside a truckload of recycling waste.

The body was found on Tuesday in a lorry at a waste disposal centre in Crayford, south-east London.

Police said the lorry originated from the Crossgates depot in Redditch, Worcestershire, and the dead man came from the Birmingham area.

Bins used at flats in Fownhope Road, Winyates, Redditch, are being examined by officers.

An area behind the flats has been sealed off.

West Mercia Police said house-to-house inquiries would be carried out on the estate.

The victim is likely to be named on Saturday. His next-of-kin have been informed.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said a murder investigation had been launched.

They added that the arrested man was in custody and was being questioned.

Officers urged anyone with information about the case to contact them.

A post-mortem examination has proved inconclusive and further tests are being carried out.

The Crossgates waste depot in Redditch was closed on Wednesday while inquiries were made. Some waste collections were disrupted as a result.

Recycling from homes across Redditch, which are all issued with wheelie bins, is taken to the centre by refuse lorries before it is removed to be processed elsewhere.
