Mother and baby saved from River Severn

A MUM and her baby were dramatically pulled from a Midland river today after three passers-by helped save them.

Two members of the public threw lifebelts into the River Severn to keep the pair afloat after they fell in while feeding swans at Worcester’s South Quay.

The rescuers held on to ropes attached to the belts to keep them afloat while a passing rower pulled them from the water.

The rescue happened just after 11.35am.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said the mum and baby were cold and in shock and were rushed to Worcestershire Royal Hospital.
