School chef Andy Minchin is hot stuff

Andy Minchin goes through his menu with nutritionist Dr Denise Mortimer of Worcester University.

CLASS Catering are delighted, for the second year running, to be awarded the School Chef of The Year Award from Worcestershire County Council., which this year was awarded to Andy Minchin who is our chef at Haybridge High School in Hagley.

The competition involved a cook off that took place in front of a live audience at the Malvern Three Counties Show, where three finalist cooks from Worcestershire schools had to cook a two course meal with local ingredients costing less than a £1, using a Worcestershire theme, which had to appeal to School Children.

Andy's was home made pork and apple burger with a Buckland Tomato Chutney, served with a fresh herb salad and roasted baby new potatoes, and for dessert a Mille Fueille of Strawberry and shortbread with Crème Fraiche.

It is the second year in succession that a Class Caterings chef has won the award, as the previous year it went to Julie Hinkley.
