Moto-cross rider in crash at Bromsgrove quarry

A BIRMINGHAM moto-cross rider suffered a broken leg after crashing off his bike at an event at a Midland quarry.

Emergency services and the Air Ambulance were scrambled to the quarry, near Sandy Lane in Wildmoor, Bromsgrove, at 6pm yesterday following the smash.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said it was believed the 21-year-old had fallen off his motorbike after going over a hump on the track.

Onlookers at the event moved the man from the middle of the circuit and onto the side of the track away from the ongoing competition before crews arrived,” the spokesman said.

“Crews immobilised him using a neck collar, spinal board and leg splint before he was transferred by land ambulance to Alexandra Hospital, in Redditch, for further assessment.”
