Antiques fair in aid of Jubilee Swimming Club

AN antiques roadshow fair to help keep a Worcestershire swimming club for the disabled afloat takes place in Kidderminster later this month.

The fair, where people can bring in their antiquities for valuation, will be held at the Gainsborough House Hotel in Kidderminster on October 22 in aid of the Jubilee Swimming Club.

William Lacey of Halls Auctioneers and Valuers carry out the valuations from 7.30pm at a charge of £1 per item.

The club was founded in 1977 and is for people of all ages who have a disability.

It needs £3,000 per year to run and most of this (approx £2,800) is taken up by pool fees. The remainder is used for insurance, pool toys, floats and admin/stationery.

This year in 2008, the club became a registered charity and this has opened up new opportunities to us as we can now look at offering social and recreational events in addition to swimming.

It is also organising a gangster and moll murder mystery evening, which will take place at the Stourport Manor Hotel on the Hartlebury Rd, Stourport.

The evening will consist of a 3 course meal and coffee, Murder Mystery during the meal, a short charity auction, games and ending with music.

We are looking for sponsors to help us fund the evening and any one or company who is willing to donate a product or service for us to auction off during the evening.
