Aston Villa fan sacked after 10 bus crashes
On one occasion a passenger was hurt when Mr Pullen allegedly braked suddenly to avoid an accident. On another he drove into the back of a bus in Worcester city centre.
In one accident alone the pay-out was £10,700 and the final two occurred within weeks of each other.
Tribunal chairman Mary Cocks said Mr Pullen had obviously had more than his fair share of accidents.
The firm, however, had failed to carry out the correct disciplinary and dismissal procedure in accordance with the Employment Rights Act. As a result Mr Pullen had been unfairly dismissed. But she said he had made a 100 per cent contribution to his dismissal.
She awarded him a week’s wage of £345 which was increased to £483 due to the Employment Rights Act breach, she said.
Raffi-Ali, operational manager at LMS Travel, which is based in Worcester, said: “We were very disappointed by the result but obviously we realise we just made a simple mistake.
“ Mr Pullen was a very reliable member of staff until he began to have so many accidents and we saw no other option but to sack him.
“The last accident on July 1 brought the whole of Worcester to a standstill so I thought enough was enough and I had to take action before somebody got seriously hurt.
“ LMS Travel is a small family-run business and until the last two years we had never even had to give a verbal warning to anyone let alone sack them, so it was all very disappointing.”
