Bewdley bridge closed to traffic in flooding alert

A MIDLAND bridge is to be closed to traffic and temporary barriers put up amid fears of flooding.

The river bridge at Bewdley will be out of bounds while the barriers on Beales Corner are in place.

Police said the river is expected to peak at about 4.1 metres today, which is above the level of the road at Beales Corner.

Previously traffic had been allowed to pass behind the barriers, but police said the risk was too great to allow that this time.
