West Midlands castle to feature in TV show The Great British Railway Journeys.

ONE of the best preserved castles in the West Midlands will feature in the TV show The Great British Railway Journeys.

Hartlebury Castle, in Worcestershire, was filmed recently in a move which should raise its profile and show off the beauty of the building to a far wider audience than normally sees it.

In the show, presenter Michael Portillo, the former Conservative minister, travels around the UK to contrasts modern landscapes and locations with those a century ago.

Alison Brimelow, Chair of the Hartlebury Castle Preservation Trust, said: “The wonderful history of the building and its stories helped flag the castle as a potential location for the documentary.

“It’s such a fascinating place and I think Michael Portillo agreed.

“He seemed amused by the library,” she added.

The episode is expected to be aired at the beginning of next year.
