Burglars escape Redditch home with haul of valuable bikes

BURGLARS broke into a cellar before dismantling four bikes and passing them piece by piece through the window.

They also stole two bikes from a shed and other equipment totalling £24,000 at the house in the Square, Feckenham, Redditch.

The raid took place between August 21 and last Wednesday.

DC Colin Millward, of West Mercia Police, said: “The offenders gained access through a disused coal shoot which has a small window fitted.

“They removed the window and slid into the cellar, where the bikes were dismantled and passed out through the gap. It is clear the house was targeted for the high value bikes, which are very identifiable.”

Included in the hall was a De Rosa road bike, and Eddy Merckx track bike, an Echelon track pursuit bike, a Mercian touring cycle and a Dave Marsh training bike.

Anyone with information was asked to call police on 0300 333 3000.
