Speed skater wins January award

Dannielle Khan

DANNIELLE Khan has been chosen as January 2008 Sportsperson of the Month by TAUT 100 who have recognised her achievements in Short Track Speed Skating as a young talented athlete and will act as her sponsor.

Dannielle, who skates for the Mohawk Ice Skating Club at Blue Ice Solihull Rink, is the current British Champion and recently won the Junior British Open at Nottingham, setting personal best times in all distances whilst competing against skaters from across Europe.

Last weekend Dannielle competed in Holland in a Starclass Event, which has minimum qualifying times to ensure a high level of skating. The competition was attended by skaters from Holland, France, Belgium, Germany & Great Britain.

Dannielle finished 2nd in the 500m sprint and 4th overall which was an excellent result considering it was her first ever Starclass competition.

Danneille intends to carry her winning success forwards this weekend when she races with other Mohawks Skaters in Irvine, Scotland.
