Toy bonanza for Heartlands Hospital's children's unit

BIG hearted customers and staff from Shirley’s West Bromwich Building Society have donated hundreds of pounds’ worth of toys to Heartlands Hospital’s Children’s Unit.

The building society appealed for brand new toys and gifts to help local children as part of a community initiative.

As a result, staff and customers brought in a range of gifts, including soft toys, dolls and colouring books for youngsters at the Hospital.

Shirley Branch manager, Denise Bird, will be handing over the haul to Heartlands’ Children’s Play Specialist Chris Morrell at 11am on Monday 18th February.

Denise said: “We wanted to be able to help the Children’s Unit as it does such tremendous work with young patients from this area.

“Supporting the community is something that really matters to us at the West Brom, which is why we wanted to show our support for the Heartlands by bringing the toys in for the children. Our customers in the area have been wonderful in rallying behind this compassionate cause.”

Nursery Nurse Jeannette Moulton added: “These gifts will help to cheer up the children and will get plenty of use in our play room at the Children’s Unit. We’re extremely grateful to all those people who have been so generous in donating to the appeal.”
