Running nurse adds two more destinations to his list

Bournemout councill Anne Filey with Mark Dabbs

WALSALL nurse and running ambassador Mark Dabbs dropped by the county of Dorset to meet 3 of their Mayors as part of his nationwide tour to promote Walsall and present them with gifts.

Mark was contacted by two Mayors who wanted to take part in the event and help Mark with his bid to achieve an entry in the Guinness book of records for most Mayors met by an individual - not royalty.

First stop was Wimborne Minster whose Mayor had rung Mark two days before his Thursday trip wanting to meet him and suggesting others who may be interested.

"Of course, the call came right out of the blue," said a surprised Mark. "Having not mentioned it all that much, but the Mayor told me he had read a short piece in the local newspaper about my mission and had contacted the Bournemouth Council who gave me the details."

Then, after an exchange of gifts Mark sped on to Poole to meet their Mayor before running to Bournemouth on foot and the last leg of the route with a meeting and welcome from Cllr Anne Filey in the welcoming room of the Council buildings.

Thus bringing the tally of Mayors up to over 65 and adding ten foreign mayors pushes him ever closer to the 100 figure.
