Hospital ward receives cheque from family of former patient

Irene Bolton presents Jo Callan with a cheque

THE wife of Warwick Bolton has handed over a cheque to Ward 19 Day Unit at Heartlands Hospital thanks to generous donations from his friends and family.

Warwick's family had asked for donations instead of flowers at his funeral and this enabled his widow Irene to present Ward 19 with a cheque for £1,000.

The donation will enable the unit - where Warwick had been receiving chemotherapy - to purchase two auto-reclining chairs so that patients can receive their treatment in relative comfort.

Jo Callan from the hospital said: "The chairs will be gratefully recieved and others will benefit."

This is a fitting tribute to Warwick his wife Irene said: "He was a lover of his creature comforts."

Warwick was a well-known figure around the sheltered housing schemes he covered in and around Birmingham and Irene has received many messages of sympathy and donations from all who knew him.
