Lottery grant for Newhall Allotments Association

NEWHALL Allotments Association in Sutton Coldfield are pleased to announce that they have been awarded a grant by the National Lottery.

The grant is for £6,455 and has been made under the "Awards For All" Lottery grants for local groups.

The grant will be used to renovate a derelict plot and for the purchase of two 20 ft steel containers to be sited on the plot.

One will be used as a secure store for the allotment shop and allow a wider range of gardening products to made available to association members.

The other container will be fitted with a steel door and two steel shuttered windows. This will be used as a meeting room, function room and information centre.

The allotment plots are now all actively cultivated by around 80 plotholders plus their partners, families and friends. At present there is only one small hut on site which is taken up by the shop. The members are now looking forward to the increased facilities soon to be available.

Work is expected to start shortly and to be completed by mid summer.
