Jazz collective moves into Moseley

THE ever increasing reach of the Cobweb Collective, Birmingham's united front of jazz and improvised music, has firmly touched base in Moseley.

The Collective has extended it's sterling work beyond the established city centre venues such as the Yardbird, the Conservatoire and the White Swan.

The Cross, long thought of as a perfect venue for a jazz night, enters it's third month of programming as the CrissCross Jazz Night, showing no signs of slowing down.

Such established names as Julian Siegel, Liam Noble, Robin Fincker, Hans Koller, Mark Sanders, Percy Purseglove and Andrew Bain have already graced the stage, playing to a packed bar and rave reviews.

It's apparent success so far is most likely due to the winning combination of food and drinks offers, a warm and welcoming atmosphere, free entry and, of course, excellent musical entertainment. The 'S**t Raffle' takes place in the interval every week to the sound of moans and groans as yet another dreadful china tea set or vile 70s desk lamp (broken) finds its way from the charity shops to the prize table - great fun.

CrissCross Jazz takes place upstairs at the Cross, 147 Alcester road, Moseley, starting at around 8.30pm. More information can be found at the Cobweb Collective website Cobweb Collective website or on their Myspace page.
