Cricket club members pull together

MEMBERS of Bronze Cricket Club have been getting their hands dirty in preparation for the new season.

April 5 saw members young and old visit the Chapel Lane ground in Great Barr to give the ground a makeover in the annual NatWest sponsored Cricket force event.

But this was not the only reason for the large turn out as the members of this club are celebrating the funding of £10,000 for new fencing from the Awards For All and also a £20,000 funding from Walsall Council Youth Development for a new practise net facility.

Local Walsall MP Mr Bruce George was there to open the new projects along with officers of the local council and Warwickshire player Nick James who were all impressed with the clubs facilities.

John Carroll Treasurer of the club said: "The contribution we have had from Awards For All is of a huge benifit to a small club such as ours and the new practise nets from Walsall council are just fantastic, it is good that they recognise the contribution we make to youth development and I thank them for there own hard work that makes this possible."
