Get in touch if you took part in the 10th World Scout Jamboree

John Harris, left, and Gregord McGregor with two foriegn scouts at the 10th World Jamboree in the Philippines in 1959.

A FORMER scout who was one of a select few to take part in a world jamboree in the Philippines 50 years ago wants to trace others who took part.

John Harris, who is on the left in the picture with friend Gregor McGregor, right, wants to hear from anyone who took part in the 10th World Jamboree in 1959.

John said: "At the age of 17, we along with 30 other scouts from Birmingham and the surrounding areas were selected to form 'A' Troop as part of the 116 scout contingent from the UK to attend the 10th World Jamboree in the Philippines.

"The month long trip to the Philippines was a fantastic experience and the memories of the Jamboree site at Mount Makiling, the trips to Corregidor Island and Mount Mayon at Legaspi must still be very clear.

"As the 50th anniversary of our trip approaches I would like to re-establish contact with any other contingent members to talk over old times and possibly arrange some sort of a reunion."

John can be contacted on 01384 442924 or email harrisjohn5@sky.com
